That night, Grace was still awake and she could not sleep. She was thinking about all that had happened. The magic, the cards, her guardians and especially the fact that Syusuke was actually nice to her. Unbelievable. It felt like a dream to her. The rest of the day she ignored him and tried her best to avoid him as well. It was already 1 in the morning and she still could not sleep. She was tossing and turning in her bed. So she decided to take a walk.
'I wonder what Love and Hope are doing now. They must be sleeping in their room' she thought. She carefully and quietly opened the door. Outside she saw that Love and Hope had fallen asleep. 'They must be guarding the room. They are great guardians. I should do something nice for them.' So she carefully stepped over them trying not to make any noise and wake them or anyone for that matter. She walked down the steps and out the front doors in just a T-shirt, shorts and slippers. She walked towards the beach.
When she reached the beach, she sat down on the soft white sand. Then she gazed at the sea thinking of what she would learn tomorrow. Suddenly a breeze blew past.
"It sure is cold tonight. I should have brought a jacket." she said while rubbing her arms and tightly holding her legs to keep as warm as possible. Then she felt something drop on her head. It felt warm. It was a jacket. Then she turned around and saw Syusuke standing behind her. She gasped. "What are you doing here? You followed me didn't you." she said.
"Stop being paranoid. I couldn't sleep so I decided to take a walk." said Syusuke.
Back at the house, I mean mansion, the rest of the teenagers were gathering in Yuuta's room. He decided that the best time to tell them why Syusuke and Grace hated each other was when they were asleep.
"It started about 6 year's ago." started Yuuta. Then he took out a picture of a fat girl who hunched and had very big bushy black hair and very thick glasses. It was too dark so Lene made a small fire ball to shed some light. "This use to be Grace nee-chan when she was ten years old."
"You're kidding right. She looks so..." said Jake trying to find the right word. "different." he finally said. "Well at least she looks much better now." Erin hit him on the arm. "Ow" he said softly.
"You better believe it. Anyway Grace nee-chan moved to Japan when she was ten and she became our neighbour. Aniki, her and I became fast friends. I sometimes felt left out because I was a year younger than them. They always beat me in tennis. They were great at tennis and loved the sport. That's beside the point. Well when they were eleven, aniki kind of became part of the popular group because of his tennis skills and many girls swooned over him. So he slowly distanced himself from us. Also because Grace nee-chan looked like this." he held up the picture. "She was often teased and made fun off. Aniki use to be the one to protect her from all these insults but soon he became one of those who teased her. He did it just to stay in the "popular gang". At first, he did not feel comfortable doing it but soon he started to enjoy it and treated it as a hobby. It hurt Grace nee-chan a lot as someone she cared about started to hate her. She also stopped playing tennis as it reminded her of him." Some of them were putting up their fist saying that they would knock his lights out if they ever saw him.
"One day he went over board and said that she was not worth living on this Earth and she was so ugly that everyone would puke at the sight of her. He also said that she should just die and it would make everyone happy. But after Grace nee-chan heard what he had said, she ran out off school crying. I always tried to protect her but it was not enough and she did her best trying to ignore the taunting but that was the last straw for her. Aniki regretted what he had said and wanted to apologise but he never was able to do so. When he finally had the courage to do so, Grace nee-chan had moved away. I knew she was going to move but I never told my aniki. The day he found out that Grace nee-chan had moved away, he actually cried. When he cried, his pendant appeared in his hands. I know he was very sorry and if he could, he would apologise. If only I had told him, then they would not hate each other now. It's all my fault." said Yuuta. He felt very sad and tears were in his eyes.
"Yuuta-kun. It's not your fault. Its Fuji-senpai's fault." said Kimiko trying to comfort her boyfriend. Everyone was quiet. Jake and Kunimitsu were holding Lene and Erin in their arms respectively. Then as the first tear rolled down his cheek, his hand started to glow. Then in his hand, a pendant in the shape of a hand appeared in his hand.
"What is this?" he said as he wiped off his tears.
"This is probably the pendant that Mr Reed was talking about. It seems to appear when we have a major emotional change. " said Sk making a discovery.
"Well back to the problem. How do we get them back as friends?" asked Jewel.
"I don't think that's a problem." said Teri pointing out of the window. Everyone looked out the window and they were surprised at the scene they were witnessing. Grace and Syusuke were sitting close together sharing a jacket without any fighting. They quickly went out of the house to get closer to the scene. They hid behind some bushes trying to listen into their conversation. (See how low and sneaky these people can be)
"We aren't ever doing this again. It's just that I feel bad leaving you out in the cold that's why I am sharing the jacket so don't get the wrong idea. " said Grace.
"Well thank you." said Syusuke.
"I should be the one to say thanks for today that is. But I cannot forgive you for what you did." said Grace.
"I know. Anyway how is your arm?" asked Syusuke.
"I feel better. Thanks." said Grace.
"I always wanted to apologise but I never had the courage to do so and then you moved away." said Syusuke with a sincere look. "So now I would like to apologise. I am sorry. It does not matter if you forgive me or not. I am just happy I was finally able to say it." Then he smiled. Grace blushed. Fortunately it was too dark to see.
"We will see." said Grace.
'This is great.' thought Yuuta. Then they accidentally tumbled over each other which made quite a loud noise. Then they moaned and groaned. Then Grace and Syusuke appeared standing in front of them not looking very happy. Syusuke had his arms crossed while Grace had her hands on her hips.
"Hi aniki. Look I just got my pendant. Isn't that great?" said Yuuta.
"Yes it is but stop trying to change the subject. What are all of you doing here?" asked Syusuke. All of them had the same thought 'We are so dead.'
It was a good thing because now they did not need to explain why they were 'friends'. Then they all went back to bed. By 2am, they were all tucked in and sleeping soundly.
